The New Pearl Harbor by David Ray Griffin (Arris Books, 2004)

We can look at 911 from the top down, look at the politics, as has done Gore Vidal Dreaming War, Nafeez Ahmed The War on Freedom, Michel Chossudovsky War and Globalisation, or we can look at it from the bottom up, looking at the engineering and the facts as they present themselves on the ground, as has Thierry Meyssan 9/11: The Big Lie, Eric Hufschmid Painful Deceptions.

In writing The New Pearl Harbor David Ray Griffin has drawn on both these approaches and tried to pull it all together as a readable account.

The New Pearl Harbor is divided into two main sections. In the first part David Ray Griffin looks at the failure to intercept the hijacked planes, the collapse of the three towers at the World Trade Center, the lack of any evidence to indicate a Boeing 757 hit the Pentagon. In the second part he examines the intelligence failures that led up to 911. Contrary to what we have been told, the attacks were not 'unimaginable', did not come out of the blue. The US had had plenty of warnings, but far worse, FBI field officers who were investigating terrorist activities found their investigations blocked.

David Ray Griffin was initially sceptically of alternatives to the 'official' story, but when he started to examine the evidence, his views changed, and he is now one of the strongest critics of the official version.

David Ray Griffin is also author of The 9/11 Commission Report: Omissions and Distortions (2005) and The Destruction of the World Trade Center: A Christian Theologian's Analysis (forthcoming).

The New Pearl Harbor should be seen as a valuable counterpart to 9-11 Revealed by Ian Henshall and Rowland Morgan, as both books cover similar material, the main difference is the emphasis and amount of detail.

A well researched look at what actually happened on 911. If you had no doubts before, you certainly will after you have read The New Pearl Harbor. Or as the sub-title says: 'Disturbing Questions about the Bush Administration and 9/11'.

A book that should be on every bookshelf if you want to have any understanding of what actually happened on 11 September 2001.

Highly recommended!
