Mechanical Bride

Haunting folk, maybe with some electronic/rock/blues .... make what you will ... -- Lauren Doss

I had picked up a copy of Undisciplined Art by Jacob's Stories from Resident, an independent record shop in the North Laine area of Brighton. Resident being the only place from which one can get the limited edition Undisciplined Art. Natasha in Resident said, if you like Undisciplined Art try Mechanical Bride.

Who was I to question her judgment, so next time I was in Brighton, I popped into Resident, had a quick chat with Natasha, picked up a copy of Part II EPs by Mechanical Bride and a few copies of Undisciplined Art for presents.

I cannot fault her judgment, like Undisciplined Art, Part II EPs is haunting music.

Part II EPs features songs from the In the Throes and Black Skeleton Sea EPs. In the Throes and Black Skeleton Sea were limited editions on vinyl of 500 copies each.

Mechanical Bride was founded by Lauren Doss, originally from Surrey, now based in Brighton.

Part II EPs features Lauren Doss on vocals, guitar, piano, Abi Bailey on violin, Marcus Hessenberg on glockenspiel, Sam Pearson on tuba and euphonium, Jess Summerson on clarinet, Caroline Weeks on flute and vocals and on the last track 'the final' Tony Heap on piano and vocals. All songs by Lauren Doss, album artwork by Lauren Doss.

Shades of Mediaeval Baebes, Dido and Enya.
